Mario of Galt caught a 15.33 lb. trout out of the South Shore pond on Wednesday 3/4/15 while using a power worm off a jig. This places Mario in the top spot for the Monster Fish Contest in the trout category and knocking out Jordan Pinaseo’s 13.29 lb. trout back on 2/18.Hot spots for trout this week were the Narrows and out by the dam at the buoy line as well as the pond. Favorite baits were power worm off a jig, power eggs, fire tiger, silver rapala, shad minnows and Panther Martin fly .
Lake Camanche’s current elevation is 185.14 as of 3/4/15. Water temperature at the SS launch ramp is approximately 53 degrees and the lake is 30% full. The inflow from Lake Pardee is currently 239 c.s.f. and the outflow from Lake Camanche is currently 238 c.s.f.
Bass anglers were tight lipped as ever but when questioned one angler told me he had good success while rolling along the shallow areas of the newer islands using a slider clip to a swivel, a good size weight, 3″ lead to a colorful kastmaster lure.
Mt. Lassen Trout farm planted 1,200 lbs of trout to the South shore pond and North shore ramp on Monday 3/2/15. Another 1,200 lbs are scheduled for next week.
