Above: Chuck Taylor posted this awesome informative fishing report along with these pictures on 1/2/19 to the FB Gold Country Fishing Report. “The first fishing trip of the new year is in the books, and it has started off with a BANG! I shouldn’t really expect anything less when I get to team up with my jedi master Robert Baumert. Off to Lake Camanche and straight to the narrows. We caught 2 pretty quick, both on each side of the new planer boards. Both came in on Phil’s bubblegum colored grubs. But as fast as it started, it slowed down after those two. Not that we didn’t have opportunities, they just weren’t sticking or they’d stick and let go. A few hours go by and we change up a bit. It’s time to change some colors, I put a firetiger grub on and it started going to work. Before we knew it there was 6 in the boat. Then it slowed a bit. Time check it’s about 12:45, Phil is little bit busted up from a recent rib injury so I asked how he was doing. After thumbs up from Phil, we press on and make a couple more tweaks. I decided to take the weight off the outside line and float it closer to the top, BAM fish on. 7 then 8, and 9 in the boat. It’s the Final countdown, 1 fish to go and I’m up. The DR rod at 5ft goes off, big fish taking line and taking it’s sweet time to the back of the boat. Phil pulls the extension out of my 15ft net, turns it into a 20ft net, it’s gotta be out 26 with his reach. The fish hits the rim, does a back flop and gets off..oh so close. After a few curse words, we reset. It didn’t take too long for another chance at #10 and it was the bubblegum grub that started our day. With much less dramatics than the last fish, this one was in the net and the day was wrap. I’d like to say those fancy new outriggers and planer boards put all those fish in the boat, but today is was the DR’s that put the most fish in the box. Planer boards 4 fish, Downriggers 6 fish at 4ft and 5ft deep, 85 and 95ft back. Here’s a couple pics of the grub and egg combination that worked for us today.”
