Catfish are biting this week. Sheila of El Dorado was fishing the dam area for bass 7′ down using a senko lure when she hauled up this 17.1 lb catfish. This 31″ catfish puts Sheila on the top of the leader board for the catfish category in our Monster Fish Contest.
Ben Johnson of Elk Grove was fishing off North Shore Day Use on 3/31/15 using nighcrawlers to reel in this stringer with bass, a catfish and a crappie. The Crappie was 1.78 lb., catfish 5.5 lb and the largest of the 3 bass was 6.33 lbs.
14 yr old Brianna Kaufman of Citrus Heights caught these two bass while fishing up the Narrows 4/2/15 using “Lure How”. The large one was 3.73 lbs.
10 yr old Kacie Burge of Roseville is pictured with her 5.74 lb rainbow caught at the pond on 3/30 using Rainbow power bait.
Lake Conditions
Lake Camanche’s current elevation is 182.01 as of 04/01/15. Water temperature at the launch ramp is approximately 64 degrees and the lake is 28% full. The inflow from Lake Pardee is currently 11 c.s.f. and the outflow from Lake Camanche is currently 225 c.s.f. The flow into Camanche varies from 11 cfs to 800 cfs. as EBMUD generates electricity from Pardee’s flow. At this time they turn on two of the three generating units periodically during the week. Each unit can deliver 400 cfs, thus the 11-800 cfs range.
NOTICE:
Due to drought like conditions and the fluctuating lake levels…Camanche would like to remind our guests to “Boat at your own Risk” as stated in the Rules and Regulations under Boating.
Currently we have one launch ramp open on South Shore servicing boats 18′ or less. North shore can handle boats of any size. We are working on opening another ramp on South shore but at this time we don’t have and ETA for that project.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
1,200 lbs of Mt. Lassen Trout were planted at the South shore pond and south shore ramp on Friday March 27th. Another 1,200 lbs are scheduled for this week.
